Hi Drew,
I'm a member of the North Reading ConCom. One of the provisions we have in our bylaw is a 12 foot no disturb zone from the edge of the resource area - i.e. delinated wetland boundry. This serves us well, however, in practical use this type of provision, if specified, should be as large as you can get. I know other towns on the North Shore have 20 and 25' no disturb zones. What developers inevitably due is use this as a design constraint, and work right up to that line. So clearly, in this case, more is better.
