The Town of Sherborn, which has been a leader in land conservation and environmental protection issues, seeks applicants for the position of Conservation Commission Agent.
This is a part-time position that administers the Wetlands and Rivers Protection Acts and the Town’s General Wetlands By-Law, provides technical support and planning assistance to the Conservation Commission, manages town conservation land and conservation land acquisition projects, and coordinates public education and informational programs on natural resources and environmental issues in Sherborn.
Requires BA/BS in Environmental Sciences or related field, and three years experience in implementing, administering and enforcing the Wetlands and Rivers Protections Acts, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualified candidates will also have strong communication skills (both oral and written) as well as strong organizational and management skills (including managing assistant), with the ability to coordinate diverse community and staff efforts towards defining and achieving Town goals. At least one year of municipal government preferred. Salary range is $21 to 25 per hour, commensurate with experience, plus benefits. Time commitment is about 26-28 hours per week, which includes participation in the Commission’s regular meeting held the third Thursday evening of each month.

Duties: Under the direction of the Environmental Affairs Director, the Conservation Land Use Assistant is responsible for assisting the Conservation Commission to fulfill its statutory duties. These responsibilities encompass activities which support administration of the state Wetlands Protection Act and its accompanying regulations, and the Billerica Wetlands Protection By-Law and its accompanying regulations. Responsibilities may include review of wetland applications and project plans, attendance at meetings on behalf of the Department, performing site inspections for compliance with orders of Conditions, preparing written reports, recommendations and routine correspondence. Work includes routine support in the day to day operations of the office. Under the supervision of the Director, manage Town-owned conservation land. Assist the Director in research, writing and administration grants and in carrying out grant activities. Work with the community in a range of tasks, including development and coordination of volunteer efforts on town lands and environmental education programs.
Requirements: An Associates degree in environmental science, botany, hydrology, civil engineering or a related field with one to three years related work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Salary: $724.00 - 962.34

The Director of Environmental Affairs is responsible for assisting the Conservation Commission in fulfilling its statutory duties which include the regulation of and development in or near wetlands resource areas and open space in accordance with State and Local laws and regulations. The Director serves as Conservation Agent, reviewing permits for compliance with the Wetlands Protection Act; making oral and written recommendations to the Commission; drafting and finalizing permits that are approved by the Conservation Commission, inspecting sites for compliance with permits; inspecting wetland areas for un-permitted activities, writing up follow-up enforcement letters and orders and negotiating compliance agreements. The Town of Uxbridge seeks an energetic, flexible, results-oriented professional employee or consultant to serve as the Conservation Administrator to perform a variety of administrative, technical and professional work administering the Wetlands Protection Act, supporting the staff needs of the Conservation Commission, and administering the Town’s conservation matters. The Department of Planning and Development seeks qualified applicants for the position of Assistant Conservation Agent. This position is part–time and flexible, requiring approximately 16 hours per week. The successful candidate will be under daily supervision of the Conservation Agent/Environmental Planner.
Applicants will assist with administration of the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and the City of Attleboro’s Wetlands Protection Ordinance, management of municipal conservation lands, as well as perform site plan and application reviews, compliance inspections, and related field and office work. The position requires year round fieldwork, often at construction sites and in inclement weather. The position requires excellent

Town of Concord, Natural Resources Planner

Conservation Administrator
The Town of North Andover is seeking candidates for the position of Conservation Administrator. Field Inspector
The Town of North Andover is seeking candidates for the position of Field Inspector to support the Conservation Department and Conservation Commission administering State Wetlands Protection Act, Town environmental bylaws, and management of Town resources. Duties to include site inspections; managing open space and agricultural lease agreements; reviewing and analyzing building permit and project applications; monitoring construction activities; responding to citizen inquiries; drafting orders and preparing enforcement notices; attending and participating in public hearings.
