Join Dan Jaffe as he discusses "Why We Care (Why Natives)" at noon today in this live webinar.

With a world in flux around us and more change to come there is a growing demand for gardens to play a role in      conservation. While gardens will never take the place of undamaged natural ecosystems we have gone beyond the point where pretty is enough. But a garden is still a garden, and we want a place of our own to sit down at the end of the day with a good beer and a good book and watch the butterflies fly. Join Dan Jaffe of New England Wild Flower Society to learn about Why We Care. Why is planting native plants so important; what do they do for the ecosystem; and what can they offer us?

Dan Jaffeis the Propagator and Stock Bed Grower as well as the staff photographer at New England Wild Flower Society’s Garden in the Woods. He received a degree in botany from the University of Maine, an advanced certificate in Native Plant Horticulture and Design from New England Wild Flower Society, and has nursery management experience.  Dan Jaffe’s photography has been used in numerous publications and his book Native Plants for New England Gardens was released this spring, co-authored with Mark Richardson, Botanic Garden Director at New England Wild Flower Society.
