Our Presenters:

Dan Jaffe 

Well known photographer and author Dan Jaffe earned a degree in botany from the University of Maine, Orono, an advanced certificate in Native Plant Horticulture and Design from Native Plant Trust (formally New England Wild Flower Society), and has years of nursery management and plant sales experience. He is passionate about ecological horticulture, building both sustainability and wildlife value into every landscape, and the foraging and cultivation of wild edible plants. He is the Horticulturalist and Propagator for Norcross Wildlife Sanctuary and the staff photographer. His book Native Plants for New England Gardens was released spring of 2018.

Never used Adobe Connect before? Follow Download Steps Below.

  • Click Get Started (middle top of black task bar on Adobe page) to download the adobe connect green applet that will allow you into this webinar and all MACC online webinars.
  • TIP: Download ahead of webinar. Takes a few mins to download.
  • Follow Your Computers Steps to downloading. Once completed and the Green Applet Launcher is on your desktop or taskbar you are ready for webinars


Once you have the applet downloaded you are ready for the Day of the Webinar. See Below




Make sure you have the Adobe Connect Applet prior to the webinar. If not, see above.

To join the webinar:


·       To attend, visit:

·       Select “enter as a guest”;
·       In the box, type your first - last name and Town and press enter;

Wait patiently for the meeting host to allow your entrance to the webinar. Once your request has been granted, the meeting room will load onto your screen;

·       As the meeting room loads, you will be asked to join the audio conference.  

          Choose either:
o   “Dial in to the conference via phone”; or
o   “Using computer”.


Webinar Experience House Keeping Items

Webinar audio choices include:
·       VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol; this works if your computer has speakers or a

          headset); or
·       Our toll free telephone conference line:
                o   Dial (866) 918-5661;
                o   At prompt, enter conference code 512 366 8894.
·       If you choose to join the audio conference using your computer:
                o   Mute your microphone by clicking the arrow next to the microphone

                           icon in the upper left of the meeting room interface and choose “mute

                           my microphone”;
                o   To unmute choose “unmute my microphone”;   
·       If you choose to join the audio conference via telephone:
                o   Mute your telephone by pressing *6;
                o   To unmute, press #6;
                o   To avoid feedback echo, be sure your computer speakers are off.

Once in the meeting room,
·       If you cannot see the chat pod, click the “Full Screen” button in the upper right of

           the Adobe Connect meeting room interface (this should adjust your screen and

           allow viewing of both the share pod and the chat pod);
·       Adobe recommends that all first-time users run the Audio Setup Wizard under the

          Meeting menu.  The Meeting menu button is located on the upper-left corner of

          the Adobe Connect meeting room interface.

As a reminder, throughout the program, webinar participants can expect to:
·       View webinar video on your computer screen;
·       Hear webinar audio via your computer’s speakers, your headset, or your

        telephone (your choice);
·       Ask webinar-related questions via the chat pod;
·       Respond to instructor-generated questions via pods and/or your audio;
