FREE WEBINAR: Lunch & Learn - Invasive Plants and Wetlands - What is it and How can we manage it?

Conservation commissions frequently must make decisions about permitting invasive plant management activities in wetland resource areas. What information will help a commission prepare Orders of Condition for this work? A brief review of the most common invasives associated with resource areas, and the rationale for controlling them, will be presented. To provide some guidance on management options, I will describe the three levels of control options that we have use in our management work.

Overview:

Conservation commissions frequently must make decisions about permitting invasive plant management activities in wetland resource areas. What information will help a commission prepare Orders of Condition for this work? A brief review of the most common invasives associated with resource areas, and the rationale for controlling them, will be presented. To provide some guidance on management options, I will describe the three levels of control options that we have use in our management work. Projects that have been successfully permitted will also be featured.

Our Presenter:

Joan Deely has been a project manager and permitting specialist with Land Stewardship, Inc. for 10 years. LSI works on invasive plant control and habitat restoration projects throughout New England.  Joan has an MS Environmental Studies from Antioch University New England and a BA in Cultural Anthropology from UMass/Amherst. She served on the Northfield Conservation Commission for 16 years.

No registration required FREE TO ATTEND - Just Read below to be able to attend.
