Land Protection Tools and Techniques (online 14-week course)

 Paul Catanzaro will be teaching his "Land Protection Tools and Techniques" class online this fall, providing him the opportunity to offer the class to those of you off-campus who are interested in taking it.

The class will cover a range of topics, including: landowner decisions, conservation organizations, land prioritization, land protection tools, due diligence, land protection policies, conservation restriction monitoring, stewardship of conserved land, landscape patterns of conservation, and community conservation. A number of guest speakers will be joining us throughout the semester to share their knowledge and experience.  See a draft course schedule

The class is a great fit for those that want to know more about land protection and how it works, including: land trust staff & volunteers, land trust board members, conservation commissioners, open space committee members, land use planners, community leaders, real estate agents, attorneys, and natural resource professionals.

The class will be held via Zoom on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. starting on August 25th.

The class can be taken in one of two ways:

  1. The class can be taken through UMass Extension for a fee of $500. A letter verifying your participation in the class will be provided at the end of the semester.
  2. The class can also be taken for three graduate school credits through University Without Walls for a cost of $1,493.

There is a limit of 15 off-campus participants taken on a first come, first served basis.
